Kitty Love ~Way To Look For Love~ is a newly released otome game for the Nintendo Switch. On November 1st, the publisher released the English version, the Japanese one has been available for longer.

You can find a trailer for it on YouTube through this link.

You can currently only buy it in the Nintendo E-shop.

Story

The introduction of the story is as followed:

Flower shop clerk Honoka has been occupied with her work. One night, when she visits the park that she normally goes to. She gets cursed by the odd-eyed black cat. Now, she becomes a cat only at night. There’s only one way to break this curse.
――To have a true love’s kiss.
In order to break the curse, she lives a double life as a human by day and cat by night……

How the story starts is very simple, the MC character is cursed and the only way to break it is by a true love’s kiss. As we all already know, any curse can be broken that way. Of course the curse she is under is a bit odd, considering she’ll turn into a cat every night. Which isn’t so bad, if you just get home on time and go to sleep (you probably won’t notice it). Of course, if you don’t live alone, it could be a bit more problematic.

Kitty Love Start Screen

You can read the prologue as a separate section of the main game, the covers a short character introduction and the scene where the MC is cursed to spent the night as a cat.

Once you select the Main Part, you’ll have to choose the route which you want to follow.

Kitty Love Character Select

It seems that each character will have 2 endings, I currently have played only one route and it seems you can get 2 rather good endings. In my walkthrough I have listed the one that is not as good as the ‘normal ending’. Since there is no indication of what the endings are called, I had to improvise on naming them.

Characters

The first impression are my thoughts about the characters after reading the prologue. They will be updated as I play to their routes.

Takuma Suguri

First impression: He is the owner of the shop where MC works. He seems like a typical nice and friendly guy, definitely one I would want as a boss.

After playing his route: As I expected he really is a very nice guy, but through the MC’s cat form you learn more about him, how he was when he was younger. His route is very cute and fluff filled, except for one scene in the ending where you can see a bit of his previous self. I live for that change in voice, the voice actor did an amazing job at that.

Kohei Natsume

First impression: The best friend with a crush on the MC. He also appears to be a bit shy about it, maybe somewhat of a tsundere.

Shogo Fujimoto

First impression: The strong and quiet type, he appears very stoic but is someone who cares a lot (not only about the MC, I presume).

Kyosuke Kawahara

First impression: He and the MC don’t really get along. He seems like the arrogant type who eventually start caring. I’m really curious for his route.

Narumi Saijo

First impression: The mysterious type through and through. After reading the prologue, you can get a bit suspicious of him (not in a bad way). If you’re not sure what I’m referring to after playing it, take a good look at his eyes.

Artwork

The artwork is done by Nami Hidaka (ひだかなみ) and looks very nice. All of the CG’s look very pretty, the same goes for the backgrounds. All the characters have different sprites, which is of course nice and shows a lot more emotion behind their words.

She did an amazing job at the background design and the fact that every character has their own image for a new episode (story part) is also a very nice touch.

Language

Just like with their previous game (Iris School Of Wizardry), the game is supported in both Japanese and English.

Kitty Love Language

I played the game in English and it is still not perfect but I do think it is better compared to their previous game. It’s a shame that there are some spelling mistakes in it or similar looking words that are wrongly used. But you can still understand the story and what the characters are saying despite this.

Sound

I believe they read a lot of reviews from their previous game, this time the BGM isn’t so loud that you have a hard time hearing the voices. It’s at a much more pleasant volume this time.

This is the voice acting cast:

Takuma Suguri (村主 拓馬) / CV:Soma Saito (⻫藤 壮馬)
Kohei Natsume (夏目 航平) / CV:Atsushi Tamaru (田丸 篤志)
Shogo Fujimoto (冨士本 祥吾) / CV:Hiroki Yasumoto (安元 洋貴)
Kyosuke Kawahara (河原 匡祐) / CV:Tomoaki Maeno (前野 智昭)
Narumi Saijo (⻄條 鳴海) / CV:Takahiro Sakurai (櫻井 孝宏)

All of the main characters are voiced in Japanese, the MC Aria isn’t voiced. The other characters, such as costumer, also have a voice. Like in the previous game they released, I find this to be so pleasant. It doesn’t make them feel as just some generic background characters.

Controls

Just like with the previous game, you can always see what the controls are, it just such a handy and simple feature, but I can really appreciate it.

Saving And Loading

You can save and load at all times, even when you have to make a decision. This is so handy when you want to get all the characters endings or aren’t sure which option you should pick. This was also a feature in their previous game and I’m very glad they have kept it, I hope they’ll always allow this when they make more games.

Overall

This is a very cute game. The story is amusing considering the MC leads a double life as a cat. But the interactions with other characters is just cute and adorable. If you like fluff, this is a game for you. If you prefer some more darker themes, you might not really like it. There are of course secrets (which I’m not going to spoil) that the characters have, but it’s definitely not a dark themed game.

It’s very fun to play and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a cute romance story.
